Update from Grandma Gina (Jamie’s mom):
WE ARE HOME🙌🏻 That entire process was quite the adventure, but we got home at 8 last night.
We immediately hit the ground running because she was late for a feed (still all tube fed at this time) and she was due for meds right after we arrived home from Sacramento. Always crazy chaos.
Tomorrow is her 1 year anniversary of being home from the NICU!! We thought we might be coming home again on that day!
So bottom line:
Eliza has a respiratory virus that is going to take her a while to get rid of. It causes excess mucus, and with her compromises, she is unable to cough things up. The mucus causes her to cough very hard, then throw up; usually needing suction to clear her air way. 😢
We basically came home with the same symptoms, just not throwing up “as often” as what she was, and her seizure activity has stopped .
It’s going to be a long road of recovery. You can’t lay her down flat so she always has to be held upright, including during her sleep. We are taking her feedings very slow. (she is currently taking two hours to pump 4 ounces)
She gets her meds through her G-tube and will continue to get breathing treatments several times a day . (See photo above)
Prayer needs
1. For Eliza to get over this virus sooner than later.
2. The kids are exhausted from “sleeping” out on the couch with Eliza upright on their chests – dealing with the continuous pump feeds etc…there’s just a lot.
3. Pray for Ruby. Being three years old, & having a medically complex sister can be really challenging. Jamie and Michael are doing amazing but while Eliza is so sick it’s even harder.
My precious prayer warriors….THANK YOU! Thank you for your prayers and continued prayers… your encouraging words…. They mean so much (even if we don’t text back)
